I met Baby L's parents through some extended family and did a maternity shoot at one of my favorite West Hartford spots back in the fall, so I couldn't wait to meet her little man, who waited until he was very well done to make his debut. So after his parents and I were so impatiently waiting for him, I was so overly excited to get him as my first newborn in my home studio.
Mom brought a few things with her that I just adored. The first was a jersey knit blanket that she had received at her baby shower that was custom printed with his name. It had just the right amount of stretch so that we could swaddle Baby L nice and tight so he was good and comfy.
After the wrap pose, we did some au natural poses in a comfy blanket. Baby L was so comfortable that he made a considerable mess on my prop, but hey, poop happens! Didn't even phase me. We cleaned him up and continued shooting. He did awesome. We added a bowtie that Mom had brought in and I just love the way it came out. I really love simple newborn photos that really focus on the purity and freshness of the baby, but I thought the bowtie and that custom blanket really made this session extra special.
During the session, we had a few visitors pop their heads in and each person just couldn't get over how peaceful and comfortable it was in the studio. I was so glad to hear that and know that Mom and Dad trusted me to handle their fresh, new addition. Mom shared some glowing words about her experience that almost brought me to tears. It really means a lot to me that these moments I capture, and the art I create, can make such an impact on these families. I hope I see this little cutie for a 1 year shoot next winter!
