This past weekend, we got hit with a little bit of snow. The last time we got hit with anything that stuck to the ground was on Thanksgiving, and I was so busy hosting that I didn't get a chance to take my little man outside to play in it. I also didn't even break out my camera to capture the beautiful winter wonderland that my backyard turned into because of it. So alas, it melted, and I said, "It will snow again." Here we are in January and only the second storm of the season. My husband is happy but honestly I wish we had some of the white stuff!
Anyway, after the snow this weekend, despite my husbands' pleads to stay indoors, I took my Tman outside to play in the snow. We had a blast! I was just relishing the fun he was having, going down the slide face first into a snow pile, eating the snow, making snow castles...it was so fun. I really wanted to capture that experience but I didn't want to risk damaging my camera by bringing it out into the cold. Plus, I was wearing some heavy duty gloves and there was no way I was going to be able to handle the delicate buttons on the back of my camera.
However, even though I didn't take any photos of the details of that experience, I have made a mental note of how his thick, curly, dark lashes were catching the snowflakes in clumps, and they would just stay until he blinked and they rolled off. It was pretty windy and cold, so they didn't melt. They just tumbled down his little cheeks. I wish I could have caught it on my camera, and I vow that next time I will.
That night, as we were saying our goodnights, my husband was snuggling with T in the kitchen, T was wearing his footie pjs and his hair was all damp from his bath. I snapped this picture. Because footie pjs don't last long enough. After he outgrows his current ones, it's two-pieces from this point on. So I wanted to preserve a memory of that small detail. I feel like he's already such a big boy but even a year from now, I'm sure I will look back and realize he's still just a babe.
